Hundred Acre Homestead was created to meet the unique needs of individuals working to restore their mental and emotional balance and return to normal life.  We are a homestead, not a facility and we are committed to remaining small in size.  We have the capacity to offer individual attention to each resident to help them cope with their mental illness and associated life challenges.

The daily chores and seasonal cycles of our small farm provide invaluable opportunities for individuals to cultivate positive, healthy feelings; build motivation; develop a sense of purpose; and experience the personal pride that comes with true accomplishment.

The healing environment of Hundred Acre Homestead respects the personal goals of each individual as they learn and grow in a focused family community.  The practical experiences that are a part of every day life on the farm will last a lifetime.

Changing with the seasonal cycles of the farm, the daily schedule provides an opportunity for our residents to build a strong foundation upon which a community can grow, and in which they can achieve independence and emotional well-being.

Our farm is small, manageable and organic.  Our focus is on preserving food from a harvest garden, fiber production in the form of spinning, weaving and knitting with the fleece from our Shetland sheep, cashmere goats and alpacas.  Expressive art, yoga and meditation are three forms of self help that are greatly encouraged, and we believe that a whole food diet enhances wellness.   Larger projects at the Homestead include the restoration of an old apple orchard and the revitalization of our mature sugar woods.

And for days when you want nothing more than the invigorating feel of the surrounding Vermont beauty, the majestic view of the Worcester Mountain Range has a healing power all its own.
